The first post is the hardest, right? Right?

Greetings, reader. You should be aware of two things: 1) This blog has been a long time coming, and 2) I’m a weirdie.

I have written and rewritten this entry several times, hence the the “long time coming” bit. It’s the first entry of a brand new blog, so it should be something special, deeply meaningful, and wittily relevant. No matter how often I wrote or edited the embryonic entries, they lacked the profundity I desired my blog to emanate. Rejected versions included a lackluster “This is me, this is why I’m special, this is why you should keep reading” that reminded me too much of old MySpace profiles, a litany of geek faves and fandom cred, and one particularly gooey entry that was busting through the seams with intricate purple prose.

In the end, I decided to chuck it all. I wrote this entry in about ten minutes, and only edited it once. So here it is. I’ll probably look back at it six months from now and cringe, but I’d rather have a blog six months from now. Frankly, I’m tired of writing blog entries in my head where they are most likely to go forever unpublised. See point number 2, above. My head’s full of ideas and opinions and I feel the need to inflict them on the world as a whole, so a blog seemed like a reasonable thing to start. It gets the clutter out of my head, and forces me to write. Two birds, one stone.

Or should I say two fish, one glass?
