CSO Renewed

10. April 2020 Personal, Site & Blog 0

It’s been a long road since my last entry. I’ve changed jobs; my father launched into not one, two, but three separate health crises; and (it should go without saying), I still have no idea where my life is heading. Oh, and there’s also this worldwide pandemic happening.

Not making excuses, but it’s been a full plate for a little while now. Back in January when I was feeling optimistic to the point of foolishness about 2020’s potential, I made my yearly reading goal: 100 books. That’s fewer than two a week, which seemed doable. I used to read a book or two every day, so no big deal, right?

A third of the way into April and I’m already 15 books behind. Whoops! But I am still reading some pretty good books, including the one I’m reading right now, which is Your Hate Mail Will Be Graded by John Scalzi (with a forward by the Wil Wheaton). Your Hate Mail Will Be Graded is a compilation of some of the more entertaining blog entries from the first ten years of Whatever, his ever-so-notorious blog. Scalzi says in the beginning that Whatever was just like it sounded: whatever was on his mind that day. It was an exercise in writing.

As I’ve said before, writing is a use-it-or-lose-it kind of skill, and I’m losing it. The fact that I haven’t posted since July is solid evidence of this fact. I’ve written several entries, but did I polish and publish them? Nope. Nuh-uh. Negatory. Sure didn’t.

Not for the first time, I find myself inspired by John Scalzi. And so, once more into the blogging breach.
